Dehydrated food

I've been working on getting my pack weight down.  I've managed to get my base weight for multi-day three season trips around 15 lbs.  Now I'm trying to figure out a way to shave weight off my food without loosing calories.  I want to switch my lunches over to freeze dried, but I don't want the hassle of stopping to cook, the added fuel weight, or a hot meal on a hot day for that matter.  Has anyone come across any freeze dried meals or have any recipes that are meant to be eaten cold?

Yes, MRE's do heat by chemical reaction to water added to the package...just follow the directions. Taste is good, depending on the meal you select.

Ive never tried them so i do not know for sure. if they are anything like the mre's from the u.s military just add water to the chemical pack inside , the reaction create's heat and cooks your meal in about 15 minutes.

a friend of mine just went on a three day backpacking trip on the pct, and highly recommended the mre's (meels ready to eat) from cabela's. light weight big selection of meals, and easy to make. just add water and wait for them to heat up. good for calories. havent tried them, just going by what he told me.

quick question. have you ever hiked kendall katwalk off of i-90? if so how did you like it?
