Directions

From Lewiston, ID head east on highway 12 until you have a turn off for Kendrick and Juliaetta, I believe this is highway 3 continue until you pass through Kendrick and then the road splits take the right, there is a sign stating Freeman Creek Campground twenty something miles. Cross the bridge over Potlatch Creek and head up Kendrick Grade on road 99 (Not towards Deary). Follow this through Southwick continue until you see 2 big grain silo's there is a sign here saying Freeman Creek turn left. Follow this road all the way down to the reservoir it does get very windy as you start down the grade to the campground. Once in the campground go to the boat launch area and follow it to the over flow parking here you will find the trail head.

Trail Description

We did the trail in reverse from Freeman Creek Campground to Big Eddy Marina. On the campground side there is a entry fee of 4$ but we told them we were just there to be dropped off and hike the trail and they let us in for free, since there was no vehicle staying. The trail is nice and well kept (in the summer) with mile markers all along the way. It meanders through mostly forested areas climbing and descending in elevation all along the way. Takes you by 4 mini boat camps at 5.5, 6, 8 and 8.5 miles. These are nice and have places for tents, fire ring, out house and pic nick tables, they are right on the water so bring swimming trunks in the summer, as Dworshak Reservoir is a huge recreation lake. This is black bear, cougar and wolf country so be prepared, we saw lots of sign. We hiked all day and never saw anyone else it is a very pleasent hike.
