From Eugene, take I-5 South until reaching Highway 58. Drive this route until seeing the signs for Lowell. Drive through Lowell for another 2 miles until reaching another intersection, turn right (this is signed for fall creek) and follow this road for 11 miles to the trailhead.
Fall Creek isn't the most spectacular hike around, but it does make for a good escape from Eugene. Actually, the hike would be great, except for the road which is on the opposite bank of Fall Creek. There are several portions of trail where you can forget about the road, and just listen to the water, and enjoy the forest. The Creek is clean and clear. If you time it right, you can see large fish swimming around in it. There is one added benefit to the road; there are several trailheads for this trail, so you can explore different sections without having to hike the whole thing. This trail is also pretty low elevation, so it's generally hikeable year-round.
